The family of Filipino writer Bienvenido N. Santos (1911-1996) welcomes you to this website, dedicated to him and launched March 22, 2000, his birthday.

We intend our audience to be the general public or anyone who is curious about Filipino literature written in English. Filipino American writers should find the site especially useful in terms of locating a tradition that began with Carlos Bulosan. Scholars, especially those in ethnic studies or postcolonial literature should find the site extremely helpful.

The site contains a brief biography, a list of works, awards, archives, and links. In addition, you will be able to listen to a brief reading by Ben Santos from his poem "Maiden Voyage," see a picture of him receiving the Southeast Asia Write Award in Bangkok, or buy any of his books. In the discussion group section, we have created a forum for continuing discussion of his work and life. His oeuvre invites discussion of the use of English by a non-native speaker, the articulation of national and ethnic identity in literature, and the role of future generations of Filipino American writers.
